Shopify launch checklist

Not all sales channel are good fit to your business. You should ask your self about the product :-

1 - What is your business model ? Wholesales or retail ?

2 - Are you manufacturing ? Or Drop-shipping ?

3 - Does your audience buying online ? In-person cod ?

4 - Does your product target at mass market ? Or fit to certain luxury group

5 - List down the strength and weakness of the channel

When you finalize your product, it's time to get the right business name and domain availability

Try to get short domain name so that your audience can remember easily.

While you are setting up your store, you can restrict customer from accessing by having a password protected landing page.

You can set or name your Shopify store. The name of your store will be displayed on every pages of your website.

1 - Click settings icon from Shopify admin

2 - Then choose general from the menu

You can set or change your time zone, weight and currency settings. This depends on the target audience of where you are selling. The settings are located in general below store address.

You can purchase a domain name or transfer a domain to Shopify store.

1 - From your Shopify admin, go to online store

2 - Click domain from the drop-down list

3 - Click button Buy domain.

You should create about page of your Shopify store. You can share story with your customer how's your business founded. The other things that you need to setup also is your privacy policy and return policy.

A theme is a template that determines the way your online store looks and feel. Different theme has different looks and layout. Certain themes are suitable for larger product catalog.

You can start adding product to your Shopify store. Follow this steps to add product below :-

1 - Click products from Shopify admin

2 - Then click button Add products

3 - Enter all the product attributes

4 - Then click button save

After you have add products into your Shopify store, you can group or organize products into collections. This will make customer easier to find your products by category.

There are two ways to organize your products which are manual collection or automated collection.

After you have organize your product into collection, you can add navigation links to your store front. This will make customer easier to find product by group or category.

We would recommend to setup shipping zone for Malaysia if you are beginner in e-commerce. Here we will show you to create shipping zone in Malaysia and add weight base shipping price. At the end of the video, you will learn to setup shipping zone and add tier weight shipping pricing for your courier.

1 - From your Shopify admin, click settings.

2 - Click Shipping from the settings menu.

3 - Delete the rest of the world zone or set at certain price by clicking edit.

4 - Edit current zone and rename to Semenanjung Malaysia. Uncheck state Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan ( later we will create a new zone for this. )

5 - On the weight base, set the default weight from 0 - 0.5 kg for most courier base weight. Set the price according to your courier rate.

6 - Add another weight rate ranging from 0.51 - 1.0 kg and set the price for the weight. You can repeat weight rate according to your requirement, example up till 3 kg.

7 - You will need to create another zone for Sabah & Sarawak since courier rate charges is different.

8 - Repeat step #5 and step #6 for this zone.

9 - Now you shop will have two shipping zone with two different shipping price.

You will need to setup and configure your taxes. If your business incur any additional tax charges, you can specify the rate in taxes.

1 - From Shopify admin, click settings

2 - In settings menu, scroll down and click tax

3 - Click the Malaysia hyperlink to open tax rate setting.

4 - Adjust or set to zero accordingly to the your business requirement.

5 - Click button Save.
